Week 2: IGQuiltFest

NATIONAL QUILTING MONTH PHOTO CHALLENGE / #IGQuiltFest:

Are you following the photo challenge, hosted by Amy Ellis (AmysCreativeSide.com), posted to #IGQuiltFest. I don't have an Instagram account but I am participating by posting weekly photos (with captions) in this space.

DAY 4 - FAST FINISH

The berry and teal jelly roll became a strip quilt by following this "40 minute* scrap quilt with Valerie Nesbitt" video. The technique leaves the ends cut flush and no fabric to discard.

NOTE: I placed the strips in a colorwash pattern before sewing. You can see that they did not align as a colorwash. I would assemble much more randomly next time. I've cut as a Trip Around The World - to be posted on another day during this photo challenge.

*40 minute refers to sewing time only.

DAY 5 - NOTIONS

Many of my notions are stored in the colorful measuring tape pouch. The Ruler Boxes, from Temecula Quilt Co., are the perfect sizes for storing additional notions.

DAY 6 - SCRAPPY QUILT

This fluffy Scrappy Quilt feels like you're enveloped in a hug when used.

DAY 7 - CUTTING MAT

It may be time to get a larger cutting mat. This one is showing many years of use.

DAY 8 - STACKS

It's time to put stacks of fabric away in their colored bins.

DAY 9 - FINALLY FINISHED

Elisa's T-Shirt Quilt!

DAY 10 - SOLIDS LOVE

Working on this baby quilt with primary colors.

From Amy's March 1st blog post:

IGQuiltFest celebrates the many different aspects of quilting, and is a great way to get to know other quilters online. There's no pressure to post EVERYDAY but it's definitely fun to post when you have the time.

Enjoy the inspirations on her website. To participate: Add a photo to your Instagram profile based on the daily prompt. Use #IGQuiltFest in the caption of your posts and have a public profile to show up in the hashtag feed.
