Metamorphosis

For the past eight weeks, I've been enrolled in a course to learn how to design professional, licensing-ready surface patterns that will help turn my creative perspective into story-rich patterns. In other words, I've been turning my inspirations into doodles; creating designs from the sketches, transforming the vision into patterns that will soon become fabric collections for quilters.
Our class mascot was the Monarch butterfly. We began our journey safely in the chrysalis to begin our metamorphosis. At the graduation ceremony last week, we celebrated our emergence. This week, we migrate toward our next chapter.
As an alumna, I gleaned so much this year. With a commitment of hard work, I feel confident that my journey will continue to be challenging, fun and rewarding.

Once completed, I look forward to sharing my fabric collection with you. The collection will hold several patterns, each one with a heartfelt story that details the inspiration behind the design. I am anxious to see the creativity used in making a comforting quilt or even a warm jacket with the fabric motifs.
Is there a project you are working on where you have learned a technique that you once thought was out of reach? I would love to hear about your own metamorphosis.
BUTTERFLIES
by Anonymous
Butterflies go fluttering by
On colored wings that catch the eye.
On wings of orange, and silvery blue,
On wings of golden yellow, too.
Butterflies float in the air,
Making their homes most anywhere:
The rainforest, field, and prairie land,
On mountaintops, and desert sand.
If winter brings the cold and snow.
To warmer climates, off they go!
Returning home the following spring,
Beautiful butterflies on the wing!

JUST FOR FUN
I was taking a long walk on a gravel road around a vineyard when I noticed a new sign on a fencepost.
This is one of my most favorite areas to take a stroll and I don't recall ever seeing a cat on this portion of my walk. It could be that my early morning or late afternoon walks are when others are walking with their dogs.
Still, what a wonderful sign for some very special and loved kitties.
Thank you for stopping by.
XOXOX
