Attic Windows

The stack of quilt tops presented to me was neatly folded, all with the wrong sides folded out. I pulled this quilt top from the stack and opened it first because it was the only one with the wrong sides folded in. Admiring the work I could see that no two windows were the same.

All of the window panes in the quilt were a deep, dark blue.

Some of the fabric appeared in multiple blocks.

I didn't catch it at first but I did notice the lace and couldn't imagine why it might be pinned in position. Then I saw that it's center block was sunny and bright, with lace curtains! Well, I saw that as a bit of the quilter's personality shining through - she was delightfully unique and colorfully creative in everything that she did.
"My favorite journey is looking out the window." ~Edward Gorey
Looking out my window this morning, I find myself surrounded by fog. The white is very bright, with visibility about 20'. The one tree on the property looks like a tall, blurry shadow trying to push the whiteness away. I can almost make out the outline of a telephone pole, where I know it to be. Without any breeze or wind, the fog comfortably hovers with no reason to leave.
My workspace is flooded with bright light, making it hard to know what time of day it is. That is alright with me; I will be cozy in my space this weekend as I sew a couple of projects, write another short story and appreciate the time you've spent here. I hope that you are able to find familiar connections on your creative journey as you look out of your car, bus, subway, kitchen or attic window.
Thank you for stopping by.
